Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met with Peter Obi at his Abuja home on Wednesday, July 2. Peter Obi was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election. Their meeting has stirred up talks that opposition leaders may be planning to join forces before the 2027 general election.
This visit happened shortly after a new opposition group called the Coalition for a Better Nigeria chose the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official political party. The coalition was created to unite major opposition figures and parties to challenge the ruling APC in future elections.
Peter Obi, who used to be the governor of Anambra State, had earlier said he supports the coalition. He also mentioned that he is ready to work with others to move Nigeria forward and bring progress to the country.
