Police in Yobe State have arrested three men after catching them with 133 stolen cows. They were stopped in Mashio village, located in Fune Local Government Area. The cows were said to have been stolen from Falgore, a part of Kano State.
This information was shared in a statement on Tuesday by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim. He said the arrest is an important success in the police’s fight against crime in the state.
According to the police, the arrest happened on June 30, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., after they received a useful tip. The Damagum Police Station got information that some suspected cattle thieves were moving a large number of cows through the Mashio area in Fune.
Acting fast, the police were able to catch the three suspects. Their names are Mohammed Sani (40), Abubakar Sani (35), and Abdullahi Buhari (37). All of them are from Kano State.
The case has now been handed over to the police Crack Squad team for more investigation.
In another case the same day, June 30, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., the police got a call about a robbery happening in Jajare, which is also in Fune Local Government Area. Officers responded quickly and arrested two suspects. They also rescued the victim, who had injuries.
The state police said that a deeper investigation is now being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, praised the officers for their hard work and bravery. He also thanked people in the state for working with the police and asked for more support to keep the state safe.
