Women in Rivers State, under a group called Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS), have promised to follow Governor Siminalayi Fubara and support his call for peace in the state. The women said they would stay loyal to him no matter what political direction he takes.
The group shared this message on Sunday in Port Harcourt during a thanksgiving event. The service was held to celebrate the recent peace agreement between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The women wore pink clothes, danced, sang songs of joy, and prayed together. They said the peace in the state was something they had been waiting for.
They also described the reconciliation between the two leaders as a major step that could bring political stability to Rivers State. The women thanked President Bola Tinubu, Governor Fubara, and Minister Wike for working together to put the interest of the state first.
One of the women leaders, Florence Itamunoala, who used to work at the Ministry of Justice, said she believes in Fubara’s leadership. According to her, the reconciliation is a good move that will benefit everyone in the state. She said, “He told us to choose peace, and we will follow him anywhere because we trust him.”
Pastor Nancy Nwankwo, the group’s spiritual head, also led a prayer session asking for Fubara’s successful return to full office. She said she was hopeful that the recent political crisis in the state would soon be over.
The women described the peace agreement as more than just a political move. They said it was a spiritual success for Rivers State. They also encouraged everyone in the state to stay peaceful and united as they move forward to a better future.
