US president Trump gives update on his relationship with Elon Musk after public fall out

US President Donald Trump has shared how things are going between him and Elon Musk after their recent disagreement.

Trump mentioned that he hasn’t spoken much with Musk since he left the government role earlier this month. He also noted that Musk tried to stop one of his major bills before leaving.

When asked about Musk during a Fox News interview on Sunday, Trump didn’t say anything negative. Instead, he said Musk is a great guy and kept his tone polite.

Just a day before the interview, Musk had posted strong criticism of Trump’s $2.8 trillion spending plan. He said the new version of the bill would destroy jobs and cause big problems for the country.

Trump didn’t respond to those harsh comments directly. Instead, he spoke kindly about Musk, saying he’s very smart and will always succeed.

He also mentioned that Musk had supported his campaign in the past but later got upset. Trump said Musk’s reaction wasn’t appropriate.

After leaving his government role, Musk continued his criticism online. He accused Trump of being linked to scandal and claimed Trump wouldn’t have won the 2024 election without him.

Trump suggested that Musk was probably angry because of his decision to cancel an old electric car rule. That rule would have helped Tesla by pushing more people to buy electric vehicles.

Trump said he believes people should be free to choose between gas, hybrid, or electric cars. He personally likes electric cars but doesn’t think everyone should be forced to use them.

Earlier in the year, Musk helped save $150 billion through his work in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). But those savings were lost after Trump passed his big spending bill.

According to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, Musk was simply unhappy because the bill didn’t support his personal ideas. She said it was an unfortunate situation.
