Nigerian carer caught on camera ‘manhandling’ dementia-stricken pensioner, 88, in the UK after threatening to ‘flog him” days before he d!ed

A shocking video has revealed how a Nigerian caregiver violently handled an elderly man suffering from dementia just days before he passed away.

42-year-old Bilikesu Olagunju had only been working as a care assistant for six days when she was caught on CCTV treating 88-year-old John Attard roughly at his home in Bexley, Kent.

The security footage, recorded during her 45-minute visit, showed how badly Mr. Attard was treated — an experience his family believes he never recovered from.

According to reports, Olagunju, who was working for Unique Personnel UK at the time, undressed Mr. Attard, threatened to beat him, and even dragged him across his living room floor.

Despite the elderly man telling her several times that she was hurting him, she ignored his pleas and continued to act harshly.

At one point, she threatened him by saying, “Maybe I will beat you up. I will flog you. I’ll take you to the GP for injections. I’ll call the police on you.”

This cruel behavior happened on Christmas Eve 2022, and it was all caught on camera that had been installed by Mr. Attard’s son, Chris.

The next day, Mr. Attard was found unresponsive in his bed, bleeding from the side of his face.

He was taken to the hospital but sadly never woke up again. He died ten days later.

Olagunju later admitted in court that she had willfully mistreated or neglected someone under her care.

She was sentenced to six weeks in prison, but the jail term was suspended for 18 months. She also has to do 50 hours of unpaid community service, according to Woolwich Crown Court in London.

After the sentencing, Chris Attard said the punishment was not enough and felt like an “insult” considering what his father went through.

He added that without the camera, the abuse might never have been discovered, and Olagunju could have continued working with other vulnerable people.

The CCTV breakdown revealed that Olagunju arrived at 11:20 a.m. to help Mr. Attard with a wash and breakfast.

Instead, she shouted at him to stand, stripped him in front of a street-facing window, and dragged him across the floor by his clothes and arm, which left him extremely distressed.

At one point, she called her employer to say the man was on the floor. They told her to leave him and call an ambulance, but she ignored the instructions and kept lifting him forcefully.

The video also shows her making fun of him by putting marmalade into his coffee even though she knew he had diabetes and threatening to “flog” him again.

Chris said it was hard to watch his father in such pain. He said his dad’s face showed how much he was suffering during the abuse.

In one part of the video, Mr. Attard is seen telling her, “My head is banging,” while she continues to drag him like “a rag doll.”

Throughout the footage, Mr. Attard repeatedly tells her she is hurting him, but she doesn’t stop.

She even continued making his breakfast while insulting him and pouring the marmalade into his coffee.

The court heard that her actions were not just physical but also verbally abusive, rough, and humiliating. The prosecutor said she took advantage of the old man’s weakness.

Chris gave an emotional statement in court, saying that although the post-mortem couldn’t prove the abuse caused his father’s death, there were bruises on his chest and he never recovered after that day.

Chris recalled how he found his father unconscious on Christmas morning, and later the room became a crime scene.

He said that after three days in the hospital, he wrote a victim statement, hoping his father would recover — but sadly, he passed away a few days later.

He told Olagunju directly that he believed her actions contributed to his father’s sudden decline and death.

Chris remembered his father as a kind and loving man with five children, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He said his father was still enjoying life and didn’t deserve such treatment.
