The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has shared its plan to organize a youth conference in Saly Portudal, Senegal. This event is meant to bring together young people across West Africa to work on common solutions for improving their economic, social, and political lives.
According to ECOWAS’s Directorate of Communication, the conference is part of activities to mark the organization’s 50th anniversary. It is titled “Engaging ECOWAS for a New Vision of Youth” and will take place from July 1 to July 3, 2025.
The event will gather youth leaders, youth groups, government officials, and professionals. They will focus on key issues that affect young people in the region—especially jobs, business opportunities, education, and skills training.
The conference is also designed to help young people connect and speak directly with ECOWAS leaders. This will allow them to share their views and work together on plans that place youth at the heart of West Africa’s development and progress. It aims to create united ideas and practical steps that will help young people grow and succeed across the region.
