My parents called me failure while I was battling depression – GoodGirl LA

Nigerian singer GoodGirl LA, whose real name is Euphemia Ekumah, has spoken openly about her journey through depression and how it helped her grow. She explained how being alone during that dark period helped her discover herself and turn her pain into power.

After staying away from the public for a while, the “Bless Me” singer revealed that she was dealing with depression quietly. During that time, she focused on healing and becoming a better version of herself instead of giving in to the pressure around her.

She shared that she rejected some big offers that most artists would have loved to accept. But for her, it wasn’t worth it if it meant giving up her values or pretending to be someone she’s not.

Many people didn’t understand her. Some even called her “crazy” for the decisions she made. Even her close friends started to distance themselves and looked down on her.

The most painful part, she said, was when her own parents called her “a failure.” That moment deeply affected her and made her rethink what truly matters in life.

Now 28, GoodGirl LA says her main focus is to make music that heals and inspires people. She no longer cares about fame or approval but about doing meaningful work that connects with real people.

On social media, she wrote that her lonely period was a time for deep personal growth. She described it as a journey of self-mastery, where she stood her ground and refused to sell her soul for acceptance.

Despite being judged, ignored, and misunderstood, she believes everything she went through helped her understand her purpose better. For her, it’s not about applause or fitting in — it’s about making true art and touching lives.
