Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to a new contract with Al-Nassr that’s worth an incredible £492 million over two years. This deal is now considered the highest-paid contract in all of sports history.
To keep him at the Saudi club, Al-Nassr gave him a big pay rise. His new agreement shows how important he is to the team and how far they’re willing to go to keep him.
With the new deal, Ronaldo will be making around £488,000 every single day. That amount will continue until he turns 42 years old, showing how much trust the club has in him even as he gets older.
The Sun reports that apart from the massive salary, Ronaldo has also been given the role of a “dream ambassador” for Saudi Arabia. This role is expected to add even more money to his earnings, possibly bringing his total to over £500 million by the end of the two years.
He will also receive a £24.5 million signing bonus just for agreeing to the contract. If he stays for the second year, the bonus could rise to £38 million. It’s a reward for his commitment to the club.
In addition to his pay and bonuses, Ronaldo now owns 15% of the club, which is valued at £33 million. If he wins awards like top goal scorer or helps the team win the league, there are more bonuses waiting for him. This could push his total earnings well past half a billion pounds.
Ronaldo’s new deal also comes with many luxury benefits. Al-Nassr will pay for 16 full-time staff to work for him and his family. These include drivers, housekeepers, chefs, gardeners, and security guards. Altogether, the cost for these staff members is about £1.4 million, all covered by the club.
After months of rumors about a possible move away, Ronaldo and Al-Nassr finally confirmed the deal on Thursday. He shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing that a new chapter is starting, but his passion and dream remain the same.
Last season, Ronaldo scored 35 goals in 41 matches and finished as the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League for the second year in a row. His performance continues to show that he’s still one of the best in the world.
So far, Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 games for Al-Nassr. His total career goals now stand at 938, which means he’s getting very close to his dream of scoring 1,000 goals before retirement.
