Army orders flags flown at half-mast for 17 fallen soldiers

The Nigerian Army has ordered that flags be lowered in all its military bases to honour 17 soldiers who were recently killed in attacks. These attacks happened in Niger and Kaduna states and were carried out by armed men.

A statement was shared on the Army’s official website and social media page on Friday, June 27. It explained that this action is part of a three-day period set aside to mourn the soldiers who died.

According to the Army, the mourning period began on June 25 and will last until June 27, 2025. This is to show appreciation for the soldiers who gave their lives while trying to protect the country.

It was also confirmed that the soldiers lost their lives when gunmen attacked military bases in the two affected states.

During these three days, the Nigerian Army flag will be flown at half-mast in all military offices and by every soldier across the country.

The Army expressed its sympathy to the families and friends of the fallen soldiers. It also promised to continue remembering and honouring every soldier who dies while carrying out their duty.

They ended the statement by saying the Army will always respect and value the lives of its personnel who make the ultimate sacrifice for Nigeria.
