Former U.S. President Donald Trump is angry with CNN reporter Natasha Bertrand. He wants her fired after she reported that recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear program for a short time.
Trump shared his outrage on his Truth Social page. He called Bertrand’s work “Fake News” and said she should be “reprimanded and thrown out like a dog.” He also demanded that CNN fire her immediately.
According to Trump, Bertrand’s reporting hurt the reputation of U.S. military pilots. He said she was trying to make the pilots look bad and even claimed she was not qualified to appear on TV as a reporter.
Bertrand based her report on early U.S. intelligence findings. The internal assessment said that the airstrikes had only set Iran’s nuclear activities back by a few months. Her story matched similar reports published by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other trusted outlets.
However, Trump strongly disagrees with that intelligence. He believes the airstrikes caused much more damage and pointed to Israel’s view that the attacks delayed Iran’s progress by several years.
CNN didn’t back down. They released a statement saying they fully support Natasha Bertrand and her team. They defended the report and said it was based on verified early intelligence.
The network also explained that the report clearly stated the findings were not final. CNN had also included Trump’s opinion in the story. They said it’s unfair to criticize a journalist for reporting verified information that serves the public.
The situation has added tension, especially as Trump’s team investigates who may have leaked the intelligence. His harsh words toward Bertrand are part of his ongoing dislike for mainstream media, especially CNN, which he often says is biased against him.
So far, Bertrand has not responded publicly to Trump’s comments. She remains a well-known national security reporter.
