A video showing Peter Obi reacting to the demolition of his brother’s house in Lagos has surfaced online. In the video, Obi is visibly upset as he inspects what is left of the property.
Peter Obi, who ran for president in the 2023 general election under the Labour Party, strongly criticized the Lagos State government. He said they brought down the house without giving his brother any warning ahead of time.
He also revealed that before the demolition took place, the authorities didn’t allow his brother to take out anything from the house—not even a pin. According to him, the house had belonged to his brother for over ten years.
As they toured the destroyed property, a distressed Obi said;
‘’Nobody could remove anything. Is that how a country works? They just came suddenly and started demolition. If my brother didn’t have a brother like me, they wouldn’t. ..he wanted to enter here and they said no he couldn’t. They said ‘we have court injunction”. What type of court injunction that allows somebody to enter into another person’s property, refuse him to remove his things and demolishing everything…What type of court injunction is that? We are finished in this country”
