Trump says he expects cease-fire between Israel and Iran to ‘go forever’

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the new ceasefire between Israel and Iran could last forever. He explained during a phone interview with NBC News that this deal might not just be a short break from fighting, but a lasting peace. He said he believes the ceasefire is unlimited and could continue without end.

Trump described the moment as a big success for the U.S. and the Middle East. He said he was happy to help make it happen because many people were dying and things were getting worse. He believed that if nothing was done, the situation would have brought down the whole region.

This is the first time in many years that the U.S. has helped calm things down between Israel and Iran, who have been strong enemies for decades. Trump said he does not believe the two countries will ever fight each other again.

Government officials revealed that Trump had direct talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the rising tension. At the same time, other U.S. leaders like Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff were working with Iranian contacts using both open and secret discussions.

The agreement says that by midnight Tuesday (Eastern Time), both Israel and Iran will stop all military actions. This includes airstrikes, spying missions, and online attacks.

Trump posted the news on his social media platform, Truth Social. He said the peace deal showed America’s power and smart diplomacy. He also said it could change how the world sees U.S. efforts in the Middle East.

This ceasefire comes after many back-and-forth attacks between the two countries, such as drone strikes and cyberattacks. Experts had warned that if something wasn’t done quickly, the conflict could turn into a larger war that might involve other countries like Lebanon, Syria, Gulf nations, and even the U.S.

Trump’s move is being seen as a bold decision that worked for now. But experts say that long-term peace will need more than just this agreement. Both sides will have to make serious changes, build trust, and allow outside groups to check that the rules are being followed.

Even though Trump believes this peace could last forever, experts say that the long history of problems between Israel and Iran cannot be fixed overnight. But many still see this deal as an important and hopeful first step.
