FG declares 3-day prayer for Food security

To tackle Nigeria’s growing food crisis, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has introduced a 3-day prayer and fasting programme. The aim is to seek spiritual help for the country’s protection and a better food supply system.

A memo dated June 11, 2025, and signed by Mrs. Adedayo Modupe O., the ministry’s Director of Human Resource Management, directed all key staff—such as directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, and officers in charge of agricultural areas—to take part in the prayers.

This spiritual exercise is titled “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development.”

According to the memo, the prayer sessions are to ask God for guidance and support towards the government’s plan to build a stable and long-lasting food system throughout the country.

The prayer meetings will take place at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, June 16, 23, and 30, 2025. Workers are expected to attend the prayers while fasting, as a way to show deep spiritual commitment to resolving Nigeria’s food and farming problems.
