Anambra police arrests two suspects over child theft

Police officers in Anambra State have arrested two people for allegedly stealing two small children. The children, who are between 3 and 5 years old, were rescued on June 12 by police officers from the Ozubulu Division. The suspects, 19-year-old Onyedika Daniel and 25-year-old Nkechi Onuwa, were caught in Okpuno-Oba, a community in Idemili South Local Government Area.

The incident happened after the mother of the children made a report to the police. She said that one of her children returned and explained that two of his siblings were taken away by a stranger while they were walking to her shop near Nwafor Junction in Eziora, Ozubulu.

Police began investigations immediately. During questioning, one of the suspects, Onyedika, admitted that he was part of the child theft. He then led the police to Oba town, where he had handed the children over to the second suspect, Nkechi Onuwa. They planned to continue with their criminal activity from there.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing. They are working to find other people who may be part of the child-stealing group. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be taken to court for prosecution.

This quick response by the police helped to rescue the children safely, and efforts are being made to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
