ICC: ‘I have land to bury critics’ — Wike fires back

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike didn’t hold back as he addressed his critics during the commissioning of a major road project in Abuja. Speaking boldly, he said those who are unhappy with his decisions can “go and die” — adding that he even has land to bury them.

The statement was made on Friday at the opening of the Apo-Wassa road, an important route under the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) project. Wike used the event to defend the work being done under President Tinubu’s leadership in the capital.

According to Wike, no amount of negative talk will stop the Tinubu administration from completing long-abandoned projects across Abuja. He said some people are choosing to ignore the development progress that’s already visible in the city.

Reacting to criticism about naming the renovated International Conference Centre after President Tinubu, Wike fired back strongly. “If you want to die because of it, go and die,” he said, as the crowd around him cheered loudly. “I have land to bury you.”

He went on to say that anyone who refuses to praise good work being done for the country has a personal problem. He stressed that his focus is on real progress, not arguments and noise on social media.

Wike acknowledged that criticism is normal in politics, but said it becomes unacceptable when people lie or twist facts. “If God gave you eyes and you still refuse to see the truth, then stay blind. That’s your choice,” he said.

He especially called out those attacking the newly upgraded International Conference Centre, challenging them to look at the differences in project costs and quality between 1991 and today.
