The Kebbi State Police Command has given out a total of N4.4 million to the families of eight police officers who died while serving their country.
The cheques were presented during a short ceremony at the police headquarters in Birnin Kebbi. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bello M. Sani, handed out the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Speaking during the event, DCP Aminu Babale, who is in charge of administration, asked the families to make good use of the money. He advised them to use it for important needs, especially supporting their children’s education and taking care of household expenses.
He also prayed for the souls of the late officers and wished their families peace, comfort, and strength during this difficult time.
A family representative, Kamal Abubakar, thanked the police on behalf of the other families. He said the money would help ease some of their problems and was a big support for them.
The money was given as part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, which is a program that helps families of officers who lose their lives while doing their jobs.
