Stay in Europe or accept Al Hilal’s offer – Former Super Eagles player Christian Obodo advises Victor Osimhen

Former Nigerian footballer Christian Obodo has given advice to Victor Osimhen about his future in football. He believes Osimhen should either continue playing in Europe or consider the high-paying offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

This advice comes at a time when Osimhen’s future is still unclear. The Nigerian striker recently turned down a very large offer from Al Hilal, even though the club was ready to pay his €75 million release clause and offer him a salary of around €30 million each year.

Osimhen had spent the season on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray and has now returned to his main club, Napoli. Many people expect him to leave Napoli this summer. Since he has already rejected the offer from Saudi Arabia, moving to another club in Europe might be an option he is now thinking about.

In an interview with Brila FM, Obodo said Osimhen should make a careful choice that he won’t regret in the future. He advised the striker to think about what will benefit his career in the long run.

“I know Osimhen would still like to play European football and achieve a lot, but the clause Napoli placed on him and his high wages are scaring clubs away. These clubs don’t want to make a decision that could backfire,” said the former Fiorentina midfielder.

Obodo also talked about how Nigerian players are often not given the same value as players from other countries. He believes this kind of unfair treatment should stop so Nigerian footballers can get the recognition they deserve.

Nigeria does not package their players well. If Osimhen were Brazilian, top European clubs would have signed him already. The way some Nigerians talk about their own players is not fair,” he added.

“For me, it’s up to Osimhen to decide — either compromise to stay in Europe or go to Al Hilal for the financial reward. Whatever he chooses, we should just hope he doesn’t make a decision he’ll later regret,” Obodo concluded.
