I’ve been in PDP for 28 years, will dump party to support Tinubu – Atiku’s ally, Segun Sowunmi

Segun Sowunmi, who once served as the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, has hinted that he might support President Bola Tinubu in the next election.

He said he would consider leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) before giving his support to President Tinubu.

During an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time show on Tuesday night, Sowunmi mentioned there’s a high chance he could exit the PDP.

Sowunmi said, “If I decide to back Tinubu in 2027, I’ll do it openly and join his party. I won’t hide or pretend.”

He made it clear that he doesn’t agree with people who stay in one political party while secretly supporting another. He believes in being honest about where he stands.

“I’ve been part of the PDP for 28 years,” Sowunmi said. “Many people in the party today haven’t even spent 28 days there.”

He stressed that if he decides to back the president, he will leave the PDP without hiding his decision.

He also questioned why anyone would remain in a party that refuses to make necessary changes. He believes it makes no sense to stay in such a situation.

Sowunmi said he has tried hard to push for reforms in the PDP but feels the party has not listened. Considering what’s happening around him, in his state, and with his people, he believes there’s a strong chance he might leave the PDP.
