Sowunmi once worked closely with Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but recently had good things to say about the president.

He visited President Tinubu at his Lagos home on Monday. The meeting was personal and took place in a private setting.

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Tonight, Sowunmi said he has known Tinubu since 1994 and they have shared a strong bond over the years. He described their connection as long-lasting and respectful.

Sowunmi explained that he went to Tinubu to understand why many opposition parties blame the president for the issues in their own parties. He wanted to hear directly from Tinubu and get honest answers.

Despite still being a loyal PDP member, Sowunmi said Tinubu gave smart and thoughtful answers to every question he asked. He was impressed by how clearly the president explained his views.

“His brain is still very sharp,” Sowunmi said. “Even though he looks a bit weak physically, his mind is active and strong.” He emphasized that Tinubu’s mental health is not affected by his physical appearance.

He also noted that Tinubu didn’t rely on any written notes or aides during their talk. According to Sowunmi, the president spoke freely, confidently, and gave answers that made sense.
