Ukraine’s President Zelensky said Russia sent 315 drones in one night, calling it one of the biggest drone attacks ever on Kyiv. In the city of Odesa, a maternity hospital was hit during the strikes.

Seven parts of Kyiv were damaged in the attack. Fires broke out in homes, cars, warehouses, and tall buildings. Tymur Tkachenko, a city official, said it was a very difficult night. Mayor Klitschko said four people were hurt.

Air raid alarms rang for hours, and people heard explosions all night. Air defense teams worked constantly to stop the drones.

In Odesa, two men died and nine people were injured. A maternity ward was hit, according to a top Ukrainian official. Videos showed a hospital worker cleaning up broken glass.

A 78-year-old woman named Violetta said her garage and roof were destroyed. She was not hurt, but her young neighbor was cut by glass and needed stitches.

Another local, Lyudmila, age 60, said the drones were very close and loud. She said this was the first time in four years their area was hit, and it has been very hard emotionally.

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia also launched two ballistic missiles and five cruise missiles during the attack.

This drone strike happened shortly after Russia fired 479 drones in a single night earlier in the week. It marks the second weekend in a row with record-setting drone attacks.
