A senior officer called Lieutenant Commodore M Buba was stabbed and killed in Kaduna.
The attack happened when a robber tried to steal the officer’s phone and other things near Kawo bridge.
Eyewitnesses said the officer was returning to Jaji after attending a course at the Armed Forces and Command Staff College (AFCSC). On the way, his car got a flat tire.
He stopped to change the tire when a man suddenly appeared and demanded his phone. The officer refused and asked why. The man then stabbed him in the chest with a knife.
A local vigilante named Suleiman Dahiru saw what was happening and tried to help, but the attacker also stabbed him in the hand.
People nearby caught the attacker, beat him, and killed him on the spot.
The injured officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was confirmed dead when he arrived.
His body was then taken to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital mortuary in Kaduna for further action.
Soldiers in plain clothes, police, and other security forces have been sent out to find and remove criminals hanging around bus stops and other dangerous places in Kaduna.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident and said it was very sad. He also promised that the police are working hard to protect the city and keep people safe.
