We are under siege. Terrorism is eating up Benue – Governor Alia cries out, accuses politicians of fueling the crisis

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has raised alarm that his state is under serious attack by terrorists and bandits. He explained that the recent killings in the state have gone beyond the usual fights between farmers and herders.

Over the past few weeks, there has been a rise in violent attacks across different parts of Benue. Many communities have been targeted, and several lives have been lost in these deadly attacks.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Friday, June 6, the governor said the attacks are carefully planned. He described them as the work of terrorists who know what they are doing and are organized.

Governor Alia said he doesn’t believe these are just clashes between herders and farmers anymore. Instead, he believes trained killers are carrying out these acts, using methods similar to guerrilla warfare—where small, armed groups attack and hide.

The governor also pointed fingers at some politicians currently serving in Nigeria’s National Assembly. He said they may be supporting or sponsoring the attacks in the state. While he didn’t give specific names, he mentioned that a judicial panel he set up has already found some big names involved in the crisis. He promised to act once he receives the full report next week.
