Afrobeats sensation Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has expressed his desire for improved governance in Nigeria and across the African continent.
While attending the premiere of his documentary, Wizkid: Long Live Lagos, at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, the Starboy Entertainment boss highlighted governance as a critical area African nations need to address. He emphasized his hope for positive changes in leadership across the continent.
Wizkid also encouraged African creatives to share their stories with the world. He noted that despite the challenges of poor governance, he remains optimistic about Africa’s future and its cultural potential.
“I want every African artist to have an opportunity to tell their story like this,” Wizkid said. “We all come from the same hustle, and everyone deserves the chance to share their journey. I wish for success across our culture—from music to film and sports. And most importantly, I wish for better leadership. No matter the situation, I remain positive and wish the best for all the amazing talents creating art and music in Africa.”
