Anatoly Byshovets, who used to coach Russia’s national football team, has shared his thoughts about Nigeria’s team ahead of their friendly match.
He thinks Nigeria’s team plays in a way that reminds him of Germany’s football style.
Byshovets, now 79 years old, spoke just before Russia meets Nigeria in Moscow on Friday.
He said the Nigerian team is very strong and plays a tough, physical game.
“As a coach who once led the USSR team against Nigeria, I see Nigeria’s team as similar to Germany’s team, but with an African twist,” Byshovets told Sport-Express.
He also said that Nigerian players fight hard one-on-one, and usually, the team that wins these battles wins the game.
Byshovets believes this game will give Russian players useful experience. He praised Russia’s coach Valery Karpin, saying that even though it’s hard to see results before official matches, the work Karpin is doing is very important.
Some important Nigerian players like Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ola Aina, Victor Osimhen, and Ademola Lookman will not play in this match.
This friendly game will be a good test for both teams as they prepare for future competitions.
