The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, has said that political experts should study how Nyesom Wike became part of President Bola Tinubu’s government. Wike is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), but he belongs to a different political party.
Ogunwusi shared this during the 2025 OAU Distinguished Personality Lecture in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Wike was the main speaker at this event.
The king talked about how interesting it is that Wike is working with Tinubu even though Wike is a member of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Ooni gave respect to President Tinubu and said, “Even if you are from different parties, you can still work well together.” He said it is amazing that Wike is now part of Tinubu’s government.
He also said, “I don’t know how this happened. It is something that universities should study because it is very important.” He believes Wike is a special politician because he has stayed important for 20 years.
Ogunwusi said that Nigeria belongs to everyone and that Wike is helping to make history.
Wike has promised to lead President Tinubu’s reelection campaign in Rivers State, showing he is fully involved in Tinubu’s government even as a member of the opposition.
