Nigerian rapper and singer Falz, whose full name is Folarin Falana, recently shared his thoughts on a topic that stirred up a lot of conversation. He said that in his belief system, fornication is not a sin. According to him, he follows the “religion of love,” which doesn’t judge people based on actions like that.
Falz spoke more about this during an interview with Arise TV. His comments came after people reacted strongly to something he had earlier posted on X (formerly Twitter).
where he stated:
“Fornication isn’t a sin.”
His post had sparked arguments online, especially among people with strong religious views.
After his statement went viral, many users—both Christians and Muslims—criticized him. They used verses from the Bible and the Quran to argue against what Falz had said about fornication not being a sin.
In response to the backlash, Falz explained that his message was not based on any religious belief. He made it clear that he wasn’t speaking for any religion, but instead from his personal understanding. He believes in a way of life that is led by love, not by religious rules.
“I think people would read the tweet and just assume that I meant according to Christianity. I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective. I practice the religion of love. Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin.”
He also questioned the basis for condemning premarital sex:
“These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there.”
Falz’s statement has continued to generate mixed reactions on social media.
