An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ugochukwu Orji, is set to receive an award for arresting Levi Obieze, a suspected ritualist who fled from Enugu State. The recognition will be granted by the people of Isiala Ngwa in Abia State, Officer Orji’s hometown.
Officer Orji will also be celebrated for his remarkable decision to reject a bribe of ₦10 million allegedly offered to him by the suspect.
Ginger Onwusibe, who represents Isiala Ngwa North and South in Nigeria’s National Assembly, announced this development. He revealed that Officer Orji would be honored alongside Abia State Governor Alex Otti during an upcoming grand civic reception.
According to Onwusibe, the recognition reflects the pride and trustworthiness associated with the people of Isiala Ngwa and the broader Abia State community. The lawmaker commended Officer Orji for exemplifying integrity and courage.
“Congratulations to our brother. You have made us proud and shown that Isiala Ngwa people can be trusted,” Onwusibe said. He also noted that arrangements had been made to cover Orji’s travel and logistics for the event.
Additionally, the alumni of Holy Family Secondary School in Osusu, Isiala Ngwa, have commended Orji’s courage and moral conduct. The institution praised his exemplary behavior as a reflection of the values instilled during his education. The statement was signed by Agbara Reginald and Isaac Chidiebere, the school’s alumni leaders.
