Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has thanked President Bola Tinubu for stepping in during the political crisis in the state. He said the President’s actions came at the right time and helped stop things from getting worse.
Fubara said Tinubu’s emergency rule made it possible for him and his deputy to remain in office. He explained this while speaking at a May 29 gathering hosted by his supporters in Port Harcourt under the group known as the Simplified Movement.
He told his supporters to appreciate the President, saying things could have turned out badly without his help.
‘’I want to assure you that the problem will be resolved. By the Special grace of God we will come back to our various offices, not just in the executive arm but in the legislative arm. I believe that that relationship where we all work together, eating together, crack jokes together, will still come back.
Mr President is the one that we should give every thank you to because without him, what else would have solved the problem? we protest, we protest at the end…but he came in at the right time and he salvaged a very worse situation…so let me thank him here for that intervention.”
Fubara also thanked his supporters and Nigerians who stood by him during the political struggle. He said their loyalty and prayers gave him strength.
However, he advised his followers that protests alone cannot fix political problems. He asked them to focus on peaceful ways to solve conflicts.
The governor also apologized to anyone who felt let down by his actions during the crisis. He said he acted out of concern for the state’s peace and progress.
He told his supporters that peace will return. Speaking about Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and his former boss, Fubara said there’s no reason why they can’t settle their differences.
