Nigeria’s Minister of State for Industry, John Enoh, has said that the efforts of the federal government have helped prevent many industries from shutting down or moving to other countries.
He spoke about this on Thursday during the celebration of President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.
According to Enoh, the government has focused on fixing major problems such as poor electricity supply, bad infrastructure, delays in government processes, and the difficulty of doing business in Nigeria. These changes, he said, have helped restore trust among industry players.
He explained that these problems were the main reasons why businesses had closed down in the past. Now, the government is working to improve power supply, build better infrastructure, make it easier to get affordable loans, and remove roadblocks in the system. “The confidence this government has built has helped stop industries from closing down,” Enoh said. “We’re seeing growth, and we are still working hard to keep that momentum.”
Enoh added that President Tinubu understands how important industries are to the country’s economy. That’s why, after one year in office, he made the decision to have a minister focused only on the industry sector.
The minister also pointed out that in the last two years, there have been no reports of industries shutting down or leaving Nigeria, which shows that the government’s plans are working.
He ended by saying that business owners now feel more hopeful since President Tinubu took office, and more steps are being taken to protect businesses and help them grow in Nigeria.
