Bruno Fernandes’ agent recently met with Al-Hilal representatives in Riyadh to discuss a huge £200 million transfer deal. The Manchester United captain could be moving to the Saudi club if the talks go well.
Earlier this week, Al-Hilal gave Fernandes a final offer. They told him he had 72 hours to decide whether he wanted to join their team or not.
Soon after, Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, flew to Riyadh and had face-to-face talks with the Saudi club at the Four Seasons hotel.
Sources from Saudi Arabia say this is a one-time opportunity for Fernandes. Al-Hilal want to sign him quickly so he can play for them at the Club World Cup.
Pinho has been in talks with the club for some time. Meanwhile, Fernandes is leading Manchester United on their post-season tour in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Al-Hilal are ready to offer Fernandes a massive salary increase. They want to raise his pay from £280,000 a week to £700,000 tax-free. This deal could be worth up to £200 million over three years, including bonuses.
If Fernandes agrees, the club will offer him a contract paying about £65 million per year. They plan to make an official offer to Manchester United for around £100 million.
Manchester United have said they don’t want to sell their best player. But the club is facing financial pressure after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final. That loss cost them £100 million in Champions League money.
After the game, Fernandes said he could be sold if the club needs to make money. He said, “If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to cash in, it is what it is.”
