Joe Cole, a former Chelsea player, believes that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall should start in the UEFA Europa Conference League final against Real Betis. He thinks Dewsbury-Hall deserves a place in the starting lineup chosen by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea are already in Poland, where they will play against Real Betis at the Estádio Municipal de Breslávia on Wednesday night.
After finishing fourth in the Premier League on Sunday, Chelsea have already qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Now, the team has a chance to end the season by winning a trophy if they can beat Real Betis in the Conference League final.
Throughout most of the tournament, Maresca has chosen to use backup or fringe players. But for this final match, he is expected to select more of his main players.
Joe Cole shared his opinion that Maresca will choose a stronger team to face Real Betis, and he believes Dewsbury-Hall should be included in the lineup.
In an interview with Football.London, Cole said that Maresca needs to field a strong team and that Dewsbury-Hall could be an important part of that plan.
Cole praised Dewsbury-Hall’s performances in the Conference League and said that he is the right kind of player for this final.
Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea from Leicester City last summer for about £30 million.
Although he hasn’t played much in the Premier League this season, Maresca has often used him in cup games, including this European competition.
