Many Feared Trapped As Uncompleted Building Collapses In Lagos

On Monday afternoon, a terrible accident happened in the Ota-Ona area of Ikorodu, Lagos State. An unfinished two-storey building suddenly fell down. This made many people nearby very scared because some people might be stuck under the broken building.

The building collapsed right across from the Mobil Filling Station, a busy place in Ikorodu. A Facebook user named Rasheed Fatuga said the building fell around noon, and emergency workers quickly came to help.

Before the collapse, artisans and workers often visited the building site. Because of this, people are worried that some might still be trapped inside the rubble.

So far, rescue teams have saved five people alive from under the fallen building. The emergency workers are still trying to find others who might be stuck and need help.

The rescue is being led by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). They are working together with police and medical teams to help the victims.

The exact number of people trapped is not known yet. The rescue teams are still searching and trying to find out how bad the damage is.

No official information has been given about what caused the building to collapse. But many people are asking if the building was made properly and if safety rules were followed during construction.

Building collapses happen often in Lagos. They are usually caused by bad building methods, poor materials, or weak supervision.

People living near Ota-Ona were shocked and scared. Many gathered near the site when they heard what happened. The authorities have asked people not to crowd the area so the rescue teams can work easily.

This sad event shows how important it is to have stronger building laws and better checks on construction work, especially in crowded places like Ikorodu.

While the rescue teams continue their work, families of those who might be trapped are waiting and hoping for good news soon.
