Lip reader reveals what French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte said moments after shoving him in the face

When French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, something unexpected happened. His wife, Brigitte Macron, pushed him in the face right after he got off the plane. A video of the moment quickly spread online.

A lip reader later explained what the couple said during this strange moment. It wasn’t just a physical shove — there were also some cold words exchanged.

As the plane door opened, Macron turned to his wife. She suddenly pushed his face with both hands. Seeing the cameras watching, Macron quickly smiled and waved, trying to act normal.

After being pushed, Macron moved closer to Brigitte and tried to stay calm. He then walked to the other side and quietly told her, “Let’s go,” trying to keep things smooth in front of the cameras.

When they reached the top of the stairs, Macron offered Brigitte his arm, but she ignored him. Instead, she held onto the railing and walked past him. As she did, she whispered in French, “Dégage, espèce de loser,” which means, “Stay away, you loser.”

Macron then quietly said, “Essayons, s’il te plaît,” or “Let’s try, please?” But Brigitte gave a simple and firm reply: “Non,” meaning “No.”

Macron responded with, “Je vois,” or “I see.” His face showed that he understood she wasn’t in the mood to make peace.

Though clearly surprised by the shove, Macron quickly tried to act normal again as they walked down the stairs, where Vietnamese officials were waiting to welcome them. Brigitte did not take his arm during the walk.

At first, Macron’s office said the video was fake. But later, they admitted it was real.

The president later tried to make light of the moment. He said they were just having a small argument and joking around. He also said the situation was being made bigger than it really was and asked people to calm down.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron have been married since 2007. They met in 1993 when Brigitte was a 40-year-old teacher and Macron was just 15 years old, a student in her class and a friend of her daughter.
