Recently, a video of France’s President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, caught a lot of attention. The video showed the First Lady pushing President Macron’s face as they were about to get off their plane in a city in northern Vietnam on May 25.
In the video, President Macron looked surprised but quickly stayed calm. He then waved to the reporters waiting outside.
The next day, in Hanoi, Macron talked about the video. He said the idea that his wife was hurting him was not true.
Senator Shehu Sani also shared his thoughts on the video on his social media. He said many people are treating the wife’s action as a joke. But he added that if the situation was the other way around — if the husband had pushed the wife — human rights groups would be very angry and protest against gender violence.
This shows how people can see things differently depending on who is involved. It also reminds us to take gender violence seriously, no matter the situation.
