The police in Edo State have arrested a young man named Endurance Oviojie, 22 years old, during a raid on criminals in a hotel located in Benin City.

The police spokesman, Moses Yamu, spoke to the press on Sunday and confirmed the arrest to reporters in Benin City.

While the police caught Endurance, four other suspects escaped. Their names are Clinton, Jeff, Mike, and Emmanuel, who is also called Slim Khalifa. They ran away by climbing over a fence into nearby houses.

The arrest happened on May 13, 2025, when officers from the Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) conducted the raid near Country Home Road in Benin City.

During the raid, the police found several weapons and other items, including one English Beretta pistol, one homemade pistol, one bullet, 18 live cartridges, five phones, a tablet, charms, and illegal drugs.

They also seized four unregistered Mercedes-Benz cars. These included a black C350, a gray C300, a gray GLA 250, and a red GLE 350.

The police said the arrested man has been taken to court for trial, and their search for the other four suspects who escaped is still ongoing.
