ICPC to deploy Ethics and Integrity Compliance scorecard in Nigerian MDAs

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is ready to start using a new tool to fight corruption in government offices across Nigeria. The tool is called the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS), and it will help check how well public offices follow ethical rules.

Mr. Okoro J. Ulu, the ICPC officer in charge of Adamawa State, shared this update during a visit to the management of the Federal Medical Centre in Hong, Adamawa. He explained that the Commission would soon begin using the scorecard in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) all over the country.

According to Mr. Ulu, the scorecard is used every year to measure how honest and ethical government offices are. It’s designed to spot areas where corruption can happen, so the right steps can be taken to fix those problems.

He added that the goal of the scorecard is to build a culture of honesty and responsibility in public service. When government offices follow clear ethical rules, it becomes harder for corruption to grow.

During his visit, Mr. Ulu also asked the Federal Medical Centre to help support this process by creating an Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). These units help monitor activities in public institutions and ensure that things are done properly.

He said, “We want to work with you to reduce corruption and encourage you to set up the ACTU in your hospital.”

The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Professor Yakub Wilbeforce Nyandati, thanked the ICPC team for their visit. He said the hospital is ready to set up the ACTU and take part in the ethics scorecard program. He also welcomed the planned review of their systems to improve how the hospital operates.

The ICPC’s new effort shows its commitment to promoting transparency and stopping corruption at the source by strengthening systems and encouraging accountability.
