Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has sparked conversations once again—this time, by questioning the boldness and integrity of the current Nigerian Senate.
In a post shared on his social media, Melaye didn’t hold back as he criticized sitting lawmakers for what he called their failure to “speak truth to power.” According to him, many are too silent in the face of growing national challenges.
To drive home his point, he uploaded a throwback video from his time as a serving senator. In the clip, Dino passionately addressed the Senate, boldly calling out then-President Muhammadu Buhari over his academic credentials.
The video shows Dino questioning the appropriateness of Buhari attending a Global Educators Summit, especially when the President’s own certificate was under public scrutiny.
He stated:
“It is a global embarrassment that a President whose certificate is in question is attending an education summit on behalf of Nigeria.”
Melaye argued that such a move didn’t just raise eyebrows—it also put Nigeria in a negative light on the international stage.
His post quickly gained traction online, with many users commending his courage back then and echoing his concerns about today’s political climate. Others joined the conversation, calling for more lawmakers to rise above party lines and defend the truth.
Dino’s message was clear: leadership requires boldness, and the Senate needs more voices that are unafraid to challenge the status quo.
’It is very funny that Buhari has gone to London to attend the Global Education Summit, It is funny and is putting Nigeria in a very bad shape because I am wondering what will Buhari be discussing in the Global Education Summit.
“This is a man that is a School Cert failure and unfortunately, that certificate is even missing. We have not seen it.
“There is no copy of it, and you are going to a global summit where you have professors emeritus, intellectually mobile characters, people with very high global intellectual IQ, and Buhari is going to sit down and discuss what in a Global Education Summit”
