The police in Gombe State have arrested 25 people connected to a violent attack on the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kwadon Division, CSP Adamu Alhaji-Idi. The attack happened while the officer was doing his duties in Kwadon town.
According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations Officer, the officer was hurt by a group known locally as Kalare. He suffered serious injuries, including a deep cut on his forehead, and was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe for treatment.
The Gombe State Police Command strongly condemned the attack and assured the public that they are working hard to bring those responsible to justice. The police received an emergency call around 9 a.m. from the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, which led to a swift response.
A team from Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaki, was sent quickly to the scene. After careful investigation, the police arrested 25 suspects, all residents of Kwadon town. They are now in custody and undergoing questioning. Once the investigation is complete, they will be charged in court.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Operations, visited Kwadon to assess the situation, support officers on the ground, and assure the community that the police are serious about fighting crime.
DSP Abdullahi emphasized the police’s zero-tolerance policy toward violence against officers. He warned that anyone found guilty of such acts will be prosecuted. The police will use the full power of the law against anyone who disrupts peace or harms law enforcement officers.
Residents of Kwadon and the wider Gombe community were urged to obey the law and cooperate with the police during the investigation. The police also made it clear that attacking security officers without consequences is over. They are committed to ensuring justice and keeping peace in the area.
