Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to see their cultural differences as a strength. She said people from all backgrounds in the country should work together to use their diversity for the good of everyone.
She explained that Nigeria is home to more than 250 ethnic groups, and each group speaks its own language. She believes this is a great blessing and should be used to grow mutual respect and bring people closer together.
Mrs. Tinubu gave this message on Wednesday while speaking during the 2025 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. The day is marked every year to celebrate differences and encourage peaceful dialogue.
She noted that this special day helps remind people that our differences are not a weakness, but something powerful. It also shows that no matter how different we are, we all share a common humanity.
“There is strength in diversity,” she said. “Nigeria is full of different cultures and languages, but when we talk to each other with respect and understanding, we create true unity and a strong national identity.”
The First Lady encouraged all Nigerians to celebrate their rich culture, listen to one another with empathy, and show more kindness. She said when we do this, we can all help shape a better and more united future for Nigeria and for the world.
