DSS denies involvement in Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest in Kenya

The Department of State Services (DSS) has said it had no role in the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Kenya.

The DSS made it clear that it only operates within Nigeria. It said its job does not include working outside the country.

This statement was made during a court session. A DSS officer, who was only identified as BBB, shared this while answering questions in court.

Nnamdi Kanu is currently facing terrorism-related charges from the Nigerian government, according to a report by DAILY POST.

During the cross-examination, a lawyer named Paul Erokoro (SAN), who represented the defence team led by Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), asked the DSS officer many questions about how the DSS works and what it is allowed to do.

The DSS officer admitted that he had never listened to Radio Biafra himself. Instead, he said the intelligence came from other officers assigned to the case.

When asked about the arrest in Kenya, the officer denied any involvement. He said the DSS is a domestic intelligence agency that only works within Nigeria. He added, “If Kanu was arrested in Kenya, then it was not done by us.”
