Nasir El-Rufai, who used to be the governor of Kaduna State, has said that the opposition coalition is working to remove President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
El-Rufai mentioned that even though Tinubu will be voted out, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, should remain in office because he is doing a good job.
He added that Tijani is performing well and deserves to continue serving in the next government, even if the leadership changes.
El-Rufai made these comments while speaking at the Arewa TechFest event held in Katsina State on Wednesday.
As a leading figure in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), El-Rufai said the coalition will send Tinubu back to Lagos after the 2027 elections.
He also said that he had an important meeting with top opposition politicians like Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi from the Labour Party.
Earlier reports said El-Rufai, Atiku, and Obi met to finalize their plan to form a united political front to challenge and defeat Tinubu.
This opposition coalition, led by Atiku, is expected to be officially announced soon. Their main goal is to take power from Tinubu in the next presidential race.
El-Rufai revealed that the meeting took place the previous evening at 8 PM, where the coalition leaders agreed on steps to remove Tinubu from office. He again mentioned that they plan to keep Bosun Tijani as a minister due to the good work he is doing.
