Football legend Alan Shearer has shared who he thinks will win the big Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Shearer believes that Tottenham will win the match and lift the trophy at the Athletic Bilbao Stadium on Wednesday.

Manchester United will go head-to-head with Spurs for a chance to become Europa League champions this season.

Even though Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League for the 2024-25 season, they could still qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League. The club has already won this trophy twice before.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said he feels Spurs are in the best position to win the final, which will be played at San Mames in Bilbao.

He asked who the favourites are and said it might be Tottenham, considering how they’ve performed against Manchester United this season.

Shearer also admitted that both Manchester United and Tottenham have had poor seasons in the Premier League.

He predicted the match could end in a 2-2 or 3-3 draw after extra time, with Tottenham winning on penalties.

Tottenham reached the final by beating Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals, while Manchester United defeated Lyon to secure their place.

So far this season, Spurs have beaten Manchester United three times—3-0 and 1-0 in the league, and 4-3 in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

With this strong record, Shearer believes Tottenham has the upper hand going into the final.
