The Urhobo people in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, are upset because they were not invited to an important meeting with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu. The meeting was scheduled to discuss problems with how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) drew the boundaries in Warri South.
In a letter dated May 15, 2025, signed by Chief Westham Adehor and Hon. Mark Ikputi, the Urhobos expressed their disappointment about being left out. They asked to be allowed to join the meeting so they can speak for their community and explain their side of the story.
The Urhobos said they have always represented their people and have taken part in many meetings called by INEC before. They believe the INEC report does not accurately show the situation in their area. They pointed out that the Ijaw people are not part of Warri South but belong to the nearby Agbarha areas.
The Urhobos began to feel excluded after holding a press conference on May 2, 2025, where they spoke out about problems with the new boundaries and voting places in Warri South. The press conference got a lot of attention, but since then, the Urhobos say they have been left out of important discussions.
They want to be part of the meeting with the NSA to make sure their people are properly represented and their voices heard.
