EPL: You can’t make it at Man United – Darren Bent warns Liam Delap

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has shared his thoughts on young forward Liam Delap. He believes Delap should not move to Manchester United right now.

Bent said that signing Delap will not solve Manchester United’s problem with scoring goals. According to him, the young striker is not yet ready for the pressure of playing at a big club like United.

Liam Delap has only played one season in the Premier League. During that time, he scored 12 goals and made 2 assists. His team, Ipswich Town, was recently relegated back to the Championship. Because of that, Delap now has a £30 million release clause in his contract.

Even though clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton, and Arsenal are interested in signing him, Bent thinks Delap should pick West Ham.

Bent said that between Rasmus Højlund and Liam Delap, they only have 16 Premier League goals—Rasmus has 4 and Liam has 12. He admitted he is a big fan of Delap and has watched him often, saying the player has made a lot of progress.

Still, Bent believes moving straight from Ipswich to Manchester United is a huge step. He said Delap would be expected to lead the attack and score goals for United, which is a lot of pressure.

Bent added that Delap might do well because he is confident, but warned that his form might not always be consistent as he continues to grow as a player.
