A heartbreaking incident happened in Benue State where a woman reportedly tried to end her life.

According to reports, the woman, who has not been identified, drank rat poison at Wurukum market in Makurdi on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

The news was shared on Facebook by a user named Mary David Lubem. She said the woman was in pain after taking the poison.

Thankfully, someone nearby quickly gave the woman palm oil, which helped reduce the effects of the poison. The fast action may have saved her life.

It is not clear why the woman tried to take such a step, but this event shows the need for more support for people facing mental health challenges.
