”Why is it necessary to take the JAMB exam to gain admission into universities?”- Actress Mary Remy Njoku asks as she calls for JAMB to be scrapped

Popular Nigerian actress, Mary Remy Njoku, has raised concerns about the need for the JAMB exam before students can enter university. She believes the exam may not be necessary anymore.

Mary believes the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has lost its purpose. She asked why students cannot just use their SSCE (Senior School Certificate Examination) results to gain admission into any university of their choice.

According to her, SSCE results should be enough proof that a student is ready for higher education. She doesn’t see why there should be another test like JAMB just to enter university.

Mary also shared her own story. She explained how her experience with JAMB was unpleasant and almost stopped her from going to the school she wanted. That disappointment led her to try acting instead. Luckily, it turned out well for her, and she is thankful for the journey.

Mary Remy Njoku’s opinion has sparked conversation among Nigerians. Many students and parents may agree that it’s time to rethink the role of JAMB in university admissions. Whether the government will listen or not is something we’ll have to wait and see.
