Nigerian soldiers from Operation Safe Haven have recovered about 1,000 stolen cattle after a fierce fight with bandits near the border between Taraba and Plateau states. During the clash, two bandits were killed.
The military got information on April 25 that over 60 armed bandits on 30 motorcycles crossed from Plateau State into Taraba. Their target was a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb, where they planned to steal cattle.
Soldiers from the 6th Brigade quickly moved to the area and joined forces with troops already at Jebjeb. These troops had started chasing the bandits as they fled.
The combined military forces then moved to Komodoro village in Taraba State. There, they found the bandits who had crossed back into Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State.
In the fight that followed, two bandits were killed, and about 1,000 stolen cattle were recovered. The military said the cattle have been moved to Jebjeb and will be returned to their owners soon.
This successful operation shows the military’s efforts to protect communities and stop bandit attacks in the region.
