Nnamdi Kanu’s trial: Nigerian Govt witness not on list of witnesses – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Nigerian government of using a fake witness in the trial of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

According to IPOB, the person known as Prosecution Witness BBB (PW-BBB) is not a member of the Department of State Services (DSS). Instead, they claim he is linked to a law firm and has no real role in DSS operations.

The group made this claim in a statement released on Friday in Abuja. The statement was signed by IPOB’s spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful.

They explained that the name and statement of this witness were never part of the official list of government witnesses shared with the defense team. IPOB believes this surprise move is unfair and goes against proper legal procedures.

Because of this, they are asking the trial judge, Justice James Omotosho, to take note of the situation and not allow this kind of behavior in court.

In their words, IPOB condemned what they call the Nigerian government’s misuse of the legal system and attempts to deceive the public in Kanu’s ongoing trial.

They expressed shock over the introduction of PW-BBB, who was reportedly exposed during questioning as someone not working with the DSS. IPOB believes this man is a government-planted actor.

They added that changing the witness at the last minute without informing the defense is an abuse of court process. IPOB wants this act to be called out and punished.

The group is urging the judge to recognize this dishonest move and make sure the case remains fair and just.

IPOB also pointed out that Kanu has been kept in solitary confinement, which they say is a common DSS practice. They claim several independent reports have confirmed the poor conditions he faces. Even UK officials who sometimes visit him are said to know about this treatment.

IPOB ended the statement by saying they will continue to expose the truth about PW-BBB and his real identity. They want the Nigerian government to be held accountable for trying to control the court case unfairly.

They strongly believe justice should win and are calling for Nnamdi Kanu to be released without any conditions.
