Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has encouraged Nigerians to keep their culture alive and not let it fade away.
He gave this message during an event held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The occasion was the grand finale of the 2025 World Egungun Festival.
This colorful celebration took place at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in the Oke Ado area of Ibadan.
Many important guests attended the event. These included Chief Lekan Alabi, who represented the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, as well as officials from Oyo and Osun States like Hon Ojo Abiodun and Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun.
Governor Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, used the opportunity to speak about the importance of cultural preservation.
He assured everyone that his government will continue to support the promotion of cultural activities across the state.
He explained that promoting cultural tourism can help bring more income to the state and grow the economy.
Makinde also noted that culture and tourism are major areas his administration focuses on.
He was pleased to see not only elders but also young people taking part in the festival. He emphasized that everyone has a role to play in keeping Nigerian culture strong.
