Oshiomhole introduced me to politics, took me to Tinubu- Desmond Elliot

Desmond Elliot, who is both an actor and a politician, says that former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole helped him get into politics. Oshiomhole even took Desmond to meet President Bola Tinubu.

Desmond shared a special memory during an interview with Chude Jideonwo. He said, “One day, Oshiomhole took me to meet Asiwaju and said, ‘This is my son, and he wants to be in politics.’ Asiwaju told me he already knew and liked me, which was a surprise.”

Desmond also talked about running in the 2023 elections. He competed against another actor, Olumide Oworu. Desmond said he had no hard feelings toward Olumide, but he was disappointed that some older politicians supported Olumide instead of him.

He explained, “I wasn’t upset with him. I was hurt by the older politicians who supported him.”

Desmond also told a scary story from the 2020 #EndSARS protests. During the protests, which were against police violence and abuse, Desmond said he almost got attacked by some unknown people.

The #EndSARS protests were to ask for the end of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad because many people said the police unit was hurting and robbing innocent people.

During this time, Desmond was a lawmaker in Lagos State. He got criticized when he called Nigerian youths “children” during a meeting, which many people did not like.
